Spice It Up

"You will fill me with joy in your presence." -Psalm 16:11

How much quality goes into the time you spend with God? For many, the special time with God means little more than a daily routine that includes reading a few scriptures and saying a quick prayer. Then, they're off and running!

It is so easy to fall into such routine when spending time with God that you lose the excitement. Scriptures that used to speak life to you now have little meaning. The prayers that once brought answers now seem to get no further than the ceiling. Often, your mind tends to wander when you read the Bible, or you drift off to sleep. Consequently, you find yourself facing challenges without sensing the close presence of God.

God wants you to enjoy your relationship with Him. Remove the limits when it comes to how you spend time with Him. Spice things up a little. Try writing God a letter, just like you would if you wanted to contact a friend in another state. Let Him know how much you love and appreciate Him for all He has done for you.

Sing worship songs to Him. Pretty soon, you will sense His presence and know that He is receiving your praise. Maybe you can take a walk in a park, or hike a nature trail. Visit a museum or stop off at the zoo. You'll find God, and the beauty of His creation, in all those places.

There are lots of ways and places to spend time with God. And He will be just as ready to talk to you then as He was when you were locked in the privacy of your bedroom.

  1. These past two weeks have been really hard for me. Someone close to me hurt me and I was crushed. I ran to God. I told Him EVERYTHING and then I came to realize that I went off track. I was following MY plan, not His. I quickly asked for forgiveness and asked God to show me His will and to have me follow it. I am, and it's SO much easier His way =]

  2. That's awesome to hear, Haylie :) Yes, I'm also discovering it's way easier to follow God than try to do it on my own.
